About the event

Situada no final do encanamento da Ribeira dos Moinhos, ali funcionou primeiramente um matadouro, algures entre o século XVI e o XIX, tendo posteriormente dado lugar a uma operação de moagem de cereais e serração adjacente, aproveitando a força motriz da água encanada. Em meados do século XX, aquando do desvio do caudal da Ribeira para as centrais hidroelétricas da cidade, aquela indústria readaptou-se, permanecendo ainda em funcionamento, actualmente. Procura-se, com esta visita, viajar no tempo, permitindo penetrar na herança centenária da indústria de Angra, apreendendo a sua evolução e a sua relação de proximidade com a burguesia mercantil do século XIX. Os viajantes terão também oportunidade de experimentar de perto o funcionamento da Moagem, e ficar a conhecer a sua relevância no panorama arquitectónico e patrimonial da ilha.
